Isn't' it morally wrong to demean the national anthem?
Of course it is morally wrong and completely unpatriotic to demean the national anthem. However this song isn't and shouldn't be misconstrued to be an aberration on the National Anthem. It's a song by itself that in a way tries to depict the current situation in the country. The reference to the national anthem is also for the same.
It is illegal to dissect the national Anthem and use it for your own purpose such as this. Please comment.
This song, only depicts what some characters of this film feel is the current state of affairs in the country. If one was to notice carefully, it isn't a dissection of the national anthem nor is it an attempt to do so. Yes, for obvious reasons it sounds like it, but if one was to notice carefully, the national anthem talks a completely different language and this song talks of the battleground that our land has become today.
How was this song conceived?
This song stemmed out from the fact that today freedom of speech is actually curtailed and the freedom that we actually fought for somewhere is back to being controlled and manipulated in the hands of someone or the other.
What is the idea behind the song?
The idea behind the song is strongly tied in with the premise of the film. The film showcases the lengths people would go in order to secure the all consuming power of controlling the people's mind space. The song talks about, how this largest democracy in the world runs the greatest risk of being manipulated by a few minds to promote their personal interests. It tells how a nation once regarded as the most secular, cohesive and peaceful is now being broken down to pieces. Are we awake to this fact or just sleepwalking through it? Is it victory or death?
What is your (Artiste) take on this?
Well I think this is a song that resonates the very thought of the film. No one should misconstrue this song as meaning anything else or as one that is meant to offend anyone's sentiments.
What do you believe will be the mass reaction to this song?
They would appreciate it. Everyone understands and realizes the current state of affairs of our country.
Is this a publicity stunt?
It's a creation meant for and lending support solely to the premise of the film. We believe the audience today is intelligent and don't fall for so called 'stunts'.
Is this supported or endorsed by any political party?
This is not a song pro or against any political party or any political element. It is very clear if you listen to the lyrics. It's not meant to be provocative nor is it meant to violate. It's the state of the nation the song highlights and if anything it would be accepted by each and every Indian.
What if the censor board does not issue a certificate for this song?
We believe in this song and what it stands for in the context of the film and we know in our hearts that there is nothing wrong in this song in the way it is going to be depicted in the film.
Will this song be broadcasted as a promotional song? Is it going to be sent to anyone?
This song will be made available to anyone and everyone. It's not something to be apologetic about, but something that you listen to, understand and acknowledge. It's the state of the nation and every Indian should know it, so that he or she can do something about it.
Why do you think this is a relevant song in today's time?
This song is extremely relevant simply because it voices the truth, the real sorry state of today's affairs. Yes we have great economic growth and are the rising superpower, while the world talks of that, here we lie warring amongst each other, looking for excuses, sparking communal violence. In this situation we have lost our voice, this song merely states that.

An interview with Nagesh Kukunoor
Tuesday May 12 10:40 AM
Ritesh Sharma, TWF, Bollywood Trade News Network
Nagesh Kukunoor's last film 8X10 TASVEER drew lukewarm response at the box office, but that doesn't bother the filmmaker who has two more films up for release this year besides a third film - a biopic on Kishore Kumar - in the pipeline. The director speaks to our correspondent on the Kishore Kumar biopic, TASVEER and his upcoming releases.8X 10 TASVEER released but it did not quite get a healthy response...
I am happy and excited that TASVEER released but as far as the business the film did, everything wasn't in my hands. The problem between multiplex owners and distributors started just at that time.
So, are you now looking forward to AASHAYEIN? Even it has got delayed by a long time now.
But it won't get delayed any longer. It will release soon...within a couple of months if everything goes fine. I have pinned a lot of hope on this film too and like all my film this film too is completely different.
News is that you are making a film on Kishore Kumar and have already started working on it.
Oh yes... (Laughs)... that is one film I long wished to make. I have been a great fan of Kishore Kumar and have always thought of making a film on him. But you know it isn't that easy. Given the magnanimous personality of Kishore Kumar one has to be very cautious and careful. There shouldn't be any error and I am taking utmost care to give a great entertainer.
It seems you have already started your research work!
The research work isn't that easy. It is a long and tedious process but yes I am doing a lot of research to make everything look as real as possible. I will soon start shooting for it.
So, who plays Kishore Kumar?
My choice is Shreyas (Talpade). I think he will be great and after all he too is a great Kishoreda fan like me. Just like me Shreyas too knows a number of Kishoreda songs by heart and I would ideally like him to play Kishoreda. Let's see what happens finally?
But it will be a great responsibility on the actor to live up to the expectations of the audiences
I know it is but Shreyas would be good. I don't want a big star because then the actor's image will interrupt Kishoreda's image. See right now, I am researching on Kishoreda and then have to talk to the producers before everything is finalized...so it wouldn't be fair talking much about it.
Tell me something... despite always giving something new with every film of yours, last year didn't go that well, as BOMBAY TO BANGKOK didn't create any buzz.
But that's not in my hands. (Laughs) It was a good film but after making a film you don't have any more control over the film. It is then completely up to the audiences. I have always believed in giving something new to the audiences with every film. None of my films bear any resemblance with other. Right from HYDERABAD BLUES to ROCKFORD, TEEN DEEWAREIN, IQBAL, DOR and now TASVEER -all the stories are completely different from the other.
Okay, now AASHAYEIN too has been stuck for a while. Are you feeling restless with luck not going your way?
There had been some problems, which delayed AASHAYEIN...say for around seven months but now that everything has been sorted out it will release soon. I am actually thrilled that after a long time, now all my films will release one after the other and what I can promise is that every film and every story will be different.
There are a lot of things doing the rounds, like you had problems with the producers...
I have stopped listening and reacting to rumours. These things never seem to stop so the best thing is to ignore them.
In fact, it is also said that you had some major problems with Akshay Kumar on the sets.
Oh! No... no... that's completely wrong. In fact I am really impressed with Akshay's performance and plan to work with him again.
What can we expect from AASHAYEIN?
Watch out John in a completely different role in this film. It will be a revelation for his fans and I am sure John too is expecting a lot from this film. In the meantime, I am also giving the finishing touches to YEH HAUSLA and that releases sometime by August.

Nakul’s philosophy of love!
If there’s anything more than what meets the eye in the blazing chemistry between Nakul and Sunaina on the sets of Masilamani both were quick to deny it smearing it with a ‘we are only friends’ label. Nakul met the media at the AVM Studios where his Masilamani is being shot and answered a few posers.
He started off saying that the movie is shaping up really well, thanks to the amazing chemistry between him and Sunaina since they have already worked together – unknowingly triggering a bunch of questions targeting at that topic.
He was quick to respond with a no when asked if he was in love with Sunaina. Nakul also had to explain himself about what he meant by chemistry a little while later. “I consider love to be quintessential in one’s life. But I have no place for love at the moment since I’m pretty focused on my career,” he wriggled out of the subject.
Director Manohar clarified that the movie has no unique storyline. “We are dealing with the age old story of a rich girl meeting and falling in love with a poor boy. But the screenplay is what to look for,” he stated. Masilamani is produced by Kalapathy Agoram productions.

Aguilera, 28, says Max is a fast learner and she and her husband, Jordan Bratman, have to be a little cautious because he absorbs everything like a sponge.
'He is absorbing everything like a sponge right now. We have to be cautious what we are saying around him. He is speaking a little Spanish too. He said mama and papa months ago,' said Aguilera.
'Ever since I have become a mom, I feel I have more knowledge and that makes me feel beautiful. I feel more centred, which makes me feel confident and sexy,' she added.

I haven't embarrassed BJP by filing for divorce: actress
Kannada actress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Shruthi says she is ready to resign as chairperson of the Karnataka State Women and Child Welfare Board if the party wants her to do so after her petition seeking divorce from filmmaker S. Mahendar created a stir in political circles.
Shruthi filed for divorce from her husband of 11 years Mahendar, who is also a BJP leader, two weeks ago but said party leaders have assured that her personal decision would not affect her standing in the party.
'Many party leaders, including the state party chief Sadananda Gowda, have spoken to me and they never indicated that they are unhappy with my (divorce) decision. There are some women leaders from the Congress Party who are making hue and cry over a crisis in my personal life. I'm prepared to resign from the post the moment the party asks me to do so. I don't think I have embarrassed the party by deciding to file this divorce petition,' Shruthi told IANS.
Shruthi, who last week said she will be marrying journalist-turned-director Chandrachud alias Chakri after her divorce is through, had earlier told IANS that filing for divorce was a difficult decision, but an inevitable one due to a 'lot of pain' in her married life. She has an eight-year-old daughter with Mahendar.
Mahendar said he and his family members were 'shocked' by Shruthi's decision to file for divorce. He added that their relationship was never strained, as claimed by Shruthi.
Women leaders from various parties are campaigning against Shruthi ever since she filed for divorce and revealed her plans to marry again.
Former BJP legislator and noted legal luminary Prameela Nesargi, also the former chairperson of the board, has expressed her displeasure over the recent developments.
According to party sources, some BJP women leaders have urged the party high command to remove Shruthi from the post as she has brought disgrace to the party.
Gowda is reported to have assured the women leaders that a decision would be taken after consultations with Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and other party leaders once the results are announced for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Jalaja Naik, leader of the Congress Party's women wing, has also demanded that Shruthi should be removed from the post immediately.
'We feel that the interests of the women will be threatened by such people who occupy premier positions in government, that too connected to women,' Naik told IANS.
But Shruthi says that she doesn't see any connection between her being the chairperson and her decision to seek divorce.

Yoko Ono holds back tears at press unveiling of Lennon's NY exhibition
John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono kept her tears from pouring while speaking about a forthcoming New York exhibition in honour of the late Beatle.
The exhibition, entitled John Lennon: The New York City Years, will feature the singer's personal possessions public for the first time at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex.
Items like guitars, a posthumous Grammy Award, and the star's iconic New York City T-shirt are set to go on public display.
And Ono, who held herself together while discussing Lennon's love for the city in which he was murdered, continues to get upset when the tragedy is mentioned.
"It (the bag) was hard to include. And I thought it might be criticised as well," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.
"I know it's a kind of a sad and very poignant kind of paradox that he loved this place so much and this is where he was killed. I still get affected by it. If it (his death) was a slow a process we could have talked about it or something," she said. (ANI)

Shreyas recalls the pain behind his drag act
Shreyas Talpade shall be seen in drag in his upcoming next titled PAYING GUEST. Shreyas shared his make up and sari woes while performing the challenging act.
About how it was like for him all dressed up like a woman in yet another movie post GOLMAAL RETURNS, Shreyas thanks his luck that it was only for the film. He then adds that he has decided that he won't do any more 'female' roles in the future and that he would leave them for the actresses. ''To overcome the trauma of doing this role, it is definitely going to take me at least a year.'' he says perkily.
He further adds, ''It was really very tough to play a woman's character. After doing these roles, today I have realized just how much time women need to dress and apply their make up! It would take me almost two and a half hours to get ready every day by putting on the jewellery and sari in a particular manner. And they used to call us to get ready first, even before the actresses started their make up. Carrying yourself around with a ghagra or a sari on is hard! The saris in films are so heavy and it's tough to even walk in them.''
On funny note he signs off saying, ''Now, even if I have to wait for 5 hours for my actress to get ready for a shoot, I am now willing to wait.''

Spring-autumn marriages gain popularity on small screen
According to Purnendu Shekhar, the writer and brain behind 'Balika Vadhu', age-gap marriages do take place in Indian society and it is therefore relevant to show them through TV shows.
'Such marriages are not new to our society. It takes place in a lot of rural areas and small towns in the country. The basic perception is that even if the man is 60 years old, it doesn't make any difference to a marriage and sadly, this mentality prevails even today,' Shekhar told IANS over phone from Mumbai.
While 'Balika Vadhu' airs on Colors, 'Bandini' is the top show of NDTV Imagine.
Shailja Kejriwal, creative content head at NDTV Imagine, says the channel decided to go ahead with 'Bandini' for its 'gripping and interesting storyline'.
'Ekta Kapoor had approached us with this subject and it seemed extremely interesting. A poor, abandoned girl, stuck in a conspiracy and married (forcibly) - it made a good story. We never thought of going ahead with this show to rake the issue of such (age-gap) marriages,' said Kejriwal.
'It's just a story rather than any depiction of a social issue. The female protagonist could well have been even 25 years old, but making her 18 made it more interesting,' she added.
For Shekhar, including the track in 'Balika Vadhu' was just an extension of the primary theme of child marriage in the popular series.
'The basic premise of 'Balika Vadhu' is child marriage. But this sort of social issue (young girls being married to older men) is also a serious aspect of the main story.
'It is a very sensitive issue - there are a lot of emotional and psychological needs of a person and these differ for a young girl all of 17-18 years of age and for a man who may be even more than 35 years old. What such marriages lead to is what we have tried to show,' he said.
According to Kejriwal, 'Bandini', launched in January, is the top rated show on the channel. While 'Balika Vadhu', which went on air last year in July, has become the USP of Colors and even helped it beat leading player STAR Plus in viewership last month.
For Neha Marda and Aasiya Kazi, the girls who play younger women married to much older men in 'Balika Vadhu' and 'Bandini' respectively, their roles seemed an attractive option as they were challenging.
'Initially I had refused to play this role because I couldn't relate with the character at all. We were showing an age difference of more than 40 years between the man and wife and that was odd. But gradually I've come to understand it better and I'm happy that I took up this challenge,' 21-year-old Neha, who plays Gehna in 'Balika Vadhu', told IANS.
Aasiya, 17, too feels the same way.
'I gave auditions for this role without knowing too much about what I would be doing and got selected. When I was told about the story, it was not that I was apprehensive. In fact, I was very happy that I would get to do something new - a role that many girls of my age would not get to do. So I feel I was lucky,' said Aasiya, who made her debut with 'Bandini' in January.
The trend of older men marrying young girls is not restricted to rural areas and traditional families. There have been quite a few instances in the elite circles as well - Bollywood thespian Dilip Kumar married Saira Banu, who is 22 years younger than him.
Yesteryear's crime maestro Charles Sobhraj, veteran actor Kabir Bedi and British-Indian novelist Salman Rushdie too are known for marrying or dating girls decades younger.
The only difference is that celebrities do it willingly while the girls in villages are often forced to marry older men.

Victoria Beckham says hubby David helped her strip for Armani ads
Victoria Beckham has revealed that the support of her hubby David is what helped her to strip for the saucy Armani adverts.
The couple has posed half naked for Emporio Armani's new underwear collection, and could be seen in their sexy avatar on huge billboards around the world.
"When David and I got to the first shoot we were both standing in our bathrobes, looking at each other and saying, 'Okay, who's going to drop their dressing gown first?' the Sun quoted her as saying.
She added: "It can be a little intimidating standing half-naked in a studio full of strangers, so it's good to have the support of each other, reassuring and encouraging one another. David is always incredibly supportive of everything I do." alking to Hello magazine, the former Spice Girl also revealed how the ads helped her get in shape.
"I never used to go to the gym before working with Armani - but if you're going to be photographed in your bra and knickers you want to look as good as you can," she said.
"I started running four to five miles every day, and focused on eating healthily. I really like having something to work towards, so I actually enjoyed the whole process.
"David was working out a lot as well, so we motivated each other. It was fun.
"I still work out every day. I drop the kids at school, and from the school I go to the gym and do the miles on the treadmill.
"After that I start work, and there's enough time to work before doing the school pick-up. It all works out really well.
"I have worked hard, and if you are going to agree to be photographed in underwear you have to put the hours in, so when you turn up on the day and take off your robe you feel confident that you can do the job.
"As a 35-year-old mother of three, I'm looking okay," she added. (ANI)

Jordan splits from Peter Andre
Hollywood personality Jordan aka Katie Price has been "devastated" by the breakdown of her marriage to musician Peter Andre.
A forlorn Jordan fled the country as soon as Peter made the separation public in a bid to avoid any media frenzy.
"I'm devastated," The Sun quoted her as saying.
If reports are to be believed Peter decided to call it quits after photos of a drunk Jordan with a mystery man at a club appeared.
Soon after the photos emerged, Peter declared that he was never worried about Jordan's ways unless she was drunk, as she was capable of anything in an intoxicated form.
"I'm not jealous of anybody until Katie is drunk. There's nobody I feel threatened by when she's sober. But if she's drinking I know she's capable of anything," he said at the time.
"The devil gets inside her and she's a nightmare. I trust her when she's sober but I don't trust her when she's drinking," he added.
Jordan, on the other hand, is nothing less than devastated because divorce is the last thing she would want.
"Pete is my life. This is not what I want. Pete is the love of my life - and my life," she said.
"We have children together and I am devastated and disappointed by Peter's decision to separate and divorce me - as I married him for life," she added.
Jordan also revealed that the decision was taken all of a sudden, and she had no time to mend things.
"This is not what I want and the decision has been taken out of my hands. I will not comment further or do any interviews regarding the separation. But I will always love my Pete," she said.
The former duo's management company Can Associates Limited has officially announced the separation.
"Peter Andre and Katie Price are separating after four-and-a-half years of marriage," the company spokesman said.
"They have both requested that the media respect their families' privacy at this difficult time," the spokesman added.
The duo, which has two children together, Junior, 3, Princess Tiaamii, 21 months, and also Jordan's son with footballer Dwight Yorke, Harvey, 7, is expected to fight over their over 30million-pound joint fortune.
The duo's separation comes just a fortnight after they finished the London marathon together.
Peter, on the other hand, was devastated when Jordan fled the country with their two kids to an unknown destination and left Harvey behind with a nanny.
"Peter is devastated. He doesn't know where they all are," a source said. (ANI)
