Osama ordered not to contact Britney Spears

Labels:

Los Angeles, April 29 (IANS) A court here has ordered a former confidante of Britney Spears to stay 100 yards away from the pop diva and her children.

Osama 'Sam' Lutfi, who was at one time Spears's confidante, has been called a predator by Britney's father Jamie. Jamie has sought court intervention to restrain Lutfi from contacting his daughter. Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Aviva Bobb Tuesday ordered Lutfi not to file any legal papers on her behalf.

In his order Tuesday, the judge also restrained attorney Jon Eardley who claims he was hired by Britney Spears to represent her in her legal troubles. The orders against the two men run till 2012. Lawyers for Jamie said the two men were part of a conspiracy to break up the court-ordered 'conservatorship' under Britney's father who has managed her affairs for 14 months. But Lutfi's lawyer Bryan Freedman said Spears contacted his client as she wanted to break free from her father's control.

'Never before in the history of the world has a restraining order been issued against someone who did nothing more than answer a cry for help,' the lawyer was quoted as saying.

Danayya of Universal Media. I am doing a straight Telugu film with Allu Arjun in the lead. Woody Allen wins early round in ad case

London, Apr 29 (ANI): Filmmaker Woody Allen has won the latest round of his bitter legal battle against clothing firm American Apparel after the judge ruled that he doesn't have to prove the company's advertisements are "sleazy".

The 73-year-old director had sued the clothing giants for 6.9 million pounds last year, and claimed they used his likeness on billboards without his consent.

He also branded them "sexually gross, in a witless and infantile way".

The firm's bosses hit back by challenging Allen to back up his allegations by identifying the ads to which he referred.

According to the New York Post, a judge at Manhattan's Federal Court in New York has overruled the demand, insisting Allen proved "he would not have voluntarily agreed to endorse" the company's products on the unauthorised posters when they were erected two years ago.

"There is no reason to require him to identify specific advertisements that he finds distasteful," the Daily Express quoted Judge Thomas Griesa as saying. (ANI)

Hugh Hefner and Holly Madison Spilt up.... a Love story ends

Although it has been months since Hugh Hefner, Holly Madison split up, the blonde still remains the "love of his life" and he would love to welcome her back to the Playboy Mansion.

In an interview with Jason Binn, editorial director of Niche Magazine's Los Angeles Confidential, the octogenarian tycoon claimed that he still has the same feelings for the former 'Girls Next Door' star.

The 83-year-old Playboy boss, however, said that he still doesn't know what future holds for his relationship with new top squeeze Crystal Harris.

"How serious, and intimate, and important that works out to be, well we'll have to wait and see because it's only a couple months old," Fox News quoted Hef as saying in the upcoming issue.

But while Hef's heart is still beating for Holly, it doesn't look like a reunion will happen any time soon.

"I loved my time at the mansion and think the world of Hef. There comes a time in everyone's life where they need to go their own way," said Madison.

In the interview Hefner also revealed his two prominent regrets- his two marriages (the first to Mildred Williams in 1949 and then to Playmate Kimberly Conrad in 1989 -- to whom he's still married) and taking his empire public.

"I think the company would have been more closer to home if it had remained a private corporation," admitted Hefner.

Prince reveals his struggle with epilepsy

What prompted the flashy, eccentric persona that helped make Prince a king of the music world? The singer reveals he was compensating for a painful childhood struggle with epilepsy.

"I've never spoken about this before but I was born epileptic," the reclusive singer told PBS's Tavis Smiley in an interview Monday night. "I used to have seizures when I was young. My mother and father didn't know what to do or how to handle it but they did the best they could with what little they had."

Prince also cites divine intervention for helping him cope with his epilepsy. "My mother told me one day I walked in to her and said, 'Mom, I'm not going to be sick anymore,' and she said 'Why?' and I said 'Because an angel told me so.' Now, I don't remember saying it, that's just what she told me."

But his struggle didn't end there. "From that point on, I've been having to deal with a lot of things, getting teased a lot in school," he said. "And early in my career I tried to compensate by being as flashy as I could and as noisy as I could."

The singer, who is promoting his latest album, the three-disc set LotusFlow3r, concludes his two-part Tavis Smiley interview Tuesday night.

She tried to learn some basics about the game from Graeme Smith and Shane Warne, the members of her team, but soon she was left out of breath.

'It was a fun day... Graeme (Smith) taught me how to bat and Shane (Warne) taught me how to spin the ball! We played for a bit and after I ran four times between the wickets I was gasping for breath,' Shilpa posted on her blog from Cape Town.

'Now I respect my cricketers more, wonder how they do it, handling all that pressure, gawd! We actors have it easier, at least we get retakes... anyway it's still a thankless job when they lose,' she added.

Restraining order issued in Spears caseSocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Restraining order issued in Spears case

Labels:

LOS ANGELES - A judge has ordered Britney Spears’ former manager and an attorney to stay away from the pop singer for the next three years.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aviva K. Bobb issued her ruling Tuesday after hearing testimony and arguments in recent weeks from the men and lawyers for Spears’ father, Jamie.

Bobb ordered Osama “Sam” Lutfi and attorney Jon Eardley to stay away from the 27-year-old pop singer and to not contact, threaten or try to act on her or her sons’ behalf for the next three years.

Bobb refused to extend the same protection to Spears’ parents.

The singer’s court-appointed lawyer, Samuel Ingham, endorsed issuing the orders during a hearing last week, saying they were in Spears’ “best interests.”

Lawyers for Lutfi and Eardley promised to appeal the ruling, saying the lengthy hearing didn’t prove the singer suffered substantial emotional distress as a result of the men’s actions.

Lutfi’s attorney, Bryan J. Freedman, said evidence instead pointed to Spears asking his client for help.

“Never before in the history of the world has a restraining order been issued against someone who merely responded to cries for help,” Freedman said.

Roger Diamond, who represented Eardley, said it was disappointing that the ruling didn’t spell out the judge’s reasoning for issuing the orders.

Jamie Spears and his lawyers petitioned for lengthy restraining orders against the men in January, arguing that the pair were conspiring along with paparazzo Adnan Ghalib to undermine the conservatorship. Bobb last month issued a three-year restraining order against Ghalib, who is the singer’s former boyfriend.

The hearing had been conducted over several days in the past two months, with testimony from Jamie Spears and his daughter’s security detail and a hairdresser. The hairdresser testified that Britney Spears told her she was scared of Lutfi and didn’t want to have anything to do with him.

Ghalib never appeared in court or contested the restraining order, but is due back in a criminal court next month on felony charges that he tried to run down a man attempting to deliver papers notifying him of the restraining order case.

The server, Ram Moskowitz, sued Ghalib in civil court for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Jamie Spears’ lawyer, Joel Boxer, said the restraining order request was “unusual,” but was necessary to protect the singer from “people who I think are fairly characterized as predators.”

Boxer said in Lutfi’s case, the contact amounted to breaking a promise to not contact Spears, which was reached in an agreement between him and Jamie Spears last summer.

In Eardley’s case, Boxer said the attorney had violated a court order in place since late January not to act on Britney Spears’ behalf. Eardley challenged the legitimacy of the conservatorship in court papers in March.

Lawyers for Lutfi and Eardley vigorously fought against the restraining orders. Lutfi has also filed a defamation lawsuit against Spears, and the singer’s parents.

Freedman said the conservatorship was misusing a statute meant for the elderly or severely disabled adults to protect a singer who is currently on an international concert tour.

The singer remains on a tour promoting her most recent album, “Circus.” She did not appear during hearings on the petitions, despite repeated requests by Lutfi and Eardley’s lawyers to have the singer testify.

Her life remains closely managed by her father, who can restrict her contact with outsiders and controls her access to a cell phone.
