'Fixated' Lady Gaga's 'storm' in a teacup

Labels:

Lady Gaga reportedly flew into a rage after her favourite teacup went missing.

The pop vixen, who allegedly does not travel without the floral cup, was said to have accidentally left the crockery at a posh London restaurant.

The 23-year-old, who performed at this year's Brit Awards wrapped as a teacup, later purportedly sent a cab to the Metropolitan Hotel to bring back the set.

"She kicked up a stink and demanded someone get her cup and saucer back," the Sun quoted a source as saying.

"She wouldn't drink out of anything else. It just looked like any other cup and saucer to me and said 'Made in China' on the bottom. It seemed a lot of fuss over nothing," the source added.

A spokesman for Lady Gaga said: "Lady Gaga does not want to reveal anything about the teacup itself, but drinking ginger tea is very good for singers."

KIRKIT, a parody on IPL and ICL, coming soon

IPL is kick starting from today. However, this cricket season, it's not just cricket which will do all the talking. While there is a wait and watch situation at the moment w.r.t. standoff between producers and multiplexes, audience may well get to see an entire film based on Indian Premier League (IPL), Indian Cricket League (ICL) and other such cricket leagues) during the peak of the cricket season. Titled KIRKIT, the film is ready and stars Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Kapoor, Gulshan Grover and Sayali Bhagat in the principal roles along with a bunch of youngsters.

Apparently, the film is a satire on the business of cricket and doesn't mince words during its reference to IPL and ICL. For actor Sanjay Kapoor, it will be second spoof/parody in a row after LUCK BY CHANCE. Even though the cast and crew of this Zoya Akhtar directed film had denied that it was a spoof movie, there were innumerous such references to Bollywood.

This time around though, no one denies the parody element. Says Sanjay Kapoor who has reinvented himself as an actor after LUCK BY CHANCE and now plays a crucial role in KIRKIT, ''I have finished shooting for this film which is a comedy. It's a fun movie to be a part of since it's a parody on IPL and ICL.''

What's the film exactly about other than the referential element of cricket?

''KIRKIT talks about how advantage is being taken of a common man by making everything so commercial, especially the game of cricket. It narrates how street kids have taken on to playing cricket due to exposure to IPL and other leagues which involve quick cricket day in and night out. It clearly states that now even cricket has turned into business'', details Sanjay.

The film has quite a few debutant boys playing wannabe cricketers. KIRKIT is produced and directed by Hyderabad based Shashi Pritam, a musician who has created more than 350 jingles and has also dabbled in composing music for Bollywood and South films.

Another film with cricket as its theme is HOOK YA CROOK which is directed by David Dhawan. A UTV Motion Pictures productions, this John Abraham, Genelia D'Souza, Kay Kay Menon, Shreyas Talpade starrer is currently under production and will be coming in the month of September

Amitabh Bachchan: Back to the original

A couple of days back Ram Gopal Verma's much touted film RANN had hit the headlines for its title change. Since the film is based on media life Ramu was interested in calling it as INDIA 24/7. And therefore the title was changed. But now it is being held that the makers are going back to its original title RANN.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has stated about the same in his blog. ''Yes... its back to being called (RANN) that since the title we wanted INDIA 24/7 is with another producer who refuses to part with it.''

Further on Big B also revealed about his character in the film and reason behind the change in the name of the film, ''My character's name is Vijay Harshvardhan Malik, the owner of the TV Channel INDIA 24/7. And that is where the story of this film unfolds, which is why RGV felt that INDIA 24/7 as the title of the film was appropriate. But since someone else has it and has refused to part with it, despite our requests, even though they have no intention of starting a film by that title, we felt we should leave the issue and move on giving the other producer our warmest wishes and greetings.''

Whether RANN or INDIA 24/7 we hope that the combination of Big B and RGV deliver something bigger than the title.

From Jodhaa Akbar to Arundhati

Sonu Sood, a familiar face in Hindi movies, has become a huge hit in the Telugu film industry.

The tall and lean actor has had a good 2008 having done Hindi films like Jodhaa Akbar, Singh is Kinng and Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi.

He is also basking in the unprecedented success of the recently released Telugu film Arundhati, one of the runaway hits in the beginning of 2009.

Sonu was brilliant as Pashupati and especially as aghora (he plays a tantric) he sent shivers down our spine.

The unpretentious, friendly and warm actor talks about Arundhati, his role as Pashupati and acting in Telugu films.

Why Arundhati?

I was on the lookout for a new role. When I met the producer (Shyam Prasad Reddy) and director (Kodi Ramakrishna), the role was that of a bouncer. They wanted me to play an aghora and I did not know who an aghora was. The producer and director then showed me some sketches. The only thing I knew was that I would be working with a team which had done its homework. I signed the role purely on instinct.

Besides the script, weren't you influenced by big names like Shyam Prasad Reddy and Kodi Ramakrishna?

The script was the main reason to sign the film. The names were also important.

One more love story for Siddharth

Siddharth is choosy about the films he does. That explains why he has done just about five Telugu films so far.

Generally he has worked with first-time directors and the films have clicked in a huge way. This time around too his teaming with Kishore Kumar for Koncham Ishtam Koncham Kashtam has resulted in success as the film which released in Thursday seems to be faring well.

Siddharth spoke to rediff.com's Radhika Rajamani about the film.

What made you to sign Koncham Ishtam Koncham Kashtam (KIKK)?

I was looking for a love story where I could mix the elements I had explored in Nuvvostanante and Bommarillu. KIKK gave me the chance to be a hilarious flirt in one half and a committed son and lover in the second. My fans will love this film. This is my gift to them for supporting my choices.

Anushka Sharma of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi fame can't wait to show off her dance skills in this weekend's episode of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

Rajul Hegde caught up with the pretty actress during her rehearsal at Jhalak house to know what she's been up to, and whether she's signed any new films.

How does it feel to be on Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa?

It feels very good. And this is a great platform to launch the Rab Ne DVD. It is a very popular show and a big platform for us.

Do you really need to rehearse for Haule Haule, the song you'll be dancing on, on the show?

If you notice, it's Surendar Suri (Shah Rukh Khan) who dances to Haule haule in the film, not me. I performed on Dance pe. I'm dancing to a remix version of Haule Haule. Hard Kaur has rapped very nicely to it.

Jiah Khan signs three-film deal with 'Ghajini' producerSocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Jiah Khan signs three-film deal with 'Ghajini' producer

Labels: , ,

Jiah Khan may be out of UTV Motion Pictures' 'Yahoo', but the young actress has quite a few reasons to cheer. Not only has she been roped in for a separate two-film deal by the same production house, she has also signed a three-film contract with 'Ghajini' producer Madhu Mantena.

'I think I owe her that,' said Mantena. 'Specially after the way she has been treated.'

Things didn't work out between UTV and Jiah as it was felt that she didn't suit the character in 'Yahoo' opposite Shahid Kapur.

'God has a unique way of evening things out. I must admit I was very low after what happened. When Madhu's call came it was like a sign from heaven,' said Jiah.

The actress has met up with the producer and one of the films that she has apparently been signed on for is the much talked-about sequel to 'Ghajini', the action hit that had Aamir Khan in the lead.

But Jiah does not want to reveal much at this early stage.

'It's much too early to talk about what we're doing together. But the important thing is Madhu came forward when he thought I was in a situation. UTV, whose film 'Yahoo' I lost, have also signed me for a two-film deal,' the actress said.

Why sign Jiah for two films after the 'Yahoo' fiasco?

'I'm too small, too new and too much of an outsider to comment on why UTV did what they did. I did work for almost two years on 'Yahoo'. I performed a very difficult dance number with Shahid. And I was very proud of matching steps with Shahid. Like I said it's not mine to question why.'

Jiah has also signed Sajid Khan's 'House Full' where she has two other leading ladies - Deepika Padukone and Lara Dutta - fighting for Akshay Kumar's attention.

'But I've my own track. And I get to do comedy for the first time. I was very good at comedy in acting school,' the youngster quipped.
