Good News Around the Corner?
Good news seems to be just around the corner. According to reports, the ongoing tussle between the producers' body and the multiplex owners may be finally heading towards some kind of a resolution.
The scene at the box office has been very dismal with most single theatres and multiplexes going empty. The multiplexes tried to beat the strike by screening regional fare, which wasn't exactly lapped up by the audiences. Except for a Mee Shivajiraje Bhosle Boltoy, none of the films could light up a fire. With Hollywood producers too jumping into the fray and joining hands with the producers' body, the scene has indeed been miserable. The strategy of re releases too hasn't worked any magic at the box office. It has been five weeks since any major Bollywood movie released at the multiplexes, and it's been five weeks too long. The audiences are fed up, the summer vacations are on and it is high time that the rift is mended. There is pressure on both sides to resolve the mess fast with the film 99 all set to release this Friday, in defiance of the stir. If the two warring factions come to some kind of an agreement, it should be a matter of few weeks when it will be party time again at all the theatres in the city.
